5 Best Wide Receivers in Buffalo Bills History
Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

The modern-day Buffalo Bills franchise predates the 1970 AFL-NFL merger by a decade, and while they still haven't lifted a Super Bowl trophy, some all-time legends have called the city home.

That includes at wide receiver, where the likes of Andre Reed, Stefon Diggs, and Eric Moulds have dazzled fans and left their mark in the history books.

For this ranking of the five greatest wide receivers in Bills history, we factored in counting stats, team success, and the context of their time in Buffalo.

Let us know. Did we get it right?

5. Lee Evans (2004-2010)

Evans is perhaps best known for dropping what would’ve been the go-ahead touchdown in the 2011 AFC Championship Game. At the time, Evans was playing for the Ravens, and it marked the final game of an eight-year career.

Those first seven seasons came in Buffalo, where Evans finished with 381 catches, 6,008 yards, and 43 touchdowns. He recorded two 1,000-yard campaigns, no small feat given the Bills’ constant search for a franchise quarterback.

He ranks third among wide receivers in franchise history in receiving yards and touchdowns, and fifth in receptions.

4. Elbert Dubenion (1960-1968)

Dubenion holds two exclusive feats among the Bills receivers on this list: he’s the only one to win a championship, albeit in the AFL, and play his entire career in Buffalo.

A 1959 14th-round pick of the Browns, Dubenion caught 294 balls for 5,294 yards and 35 touchdowns with the Bills. Nicknamed "Golden Wheels," Dubenion was a Pro Bowler in 1964 and a two-time second-team All-Pro selection.

3. Stefon Diggs (2020-2023)

Despite only playing four seasons in Buffalo, Diggs earned the No. 3 spot. Previously a rising star receiver in Minnesota, Diggs was the final piece needed for Josh Allen’s progression to an above-average quarterback — and, now, arguably the sport’s best.

Diggs finished his Bills tenure with 445 catches, 5,372 yards, and 37 touchdowns -- good for fourth-most in franchise history in each category.

He led the NFL in receiving during the 2020 COVID season, posted four consecutive 1,100-yard campaigns, and accumulated 600 yards and 47 catches over nine playoff games. That’ll do.

2. Eric Moulds (1996-2005)

Moulds might be a forgotten name outside of Buffalo, but opposing defensive backs surely remember him. The No. 24 pick in 1996, Moulds had 675 catches, 9,096 yards, and 48 touchdowns with the Bills.

A three-time Pro Bowler, Moulds had four 1,000-yard seasons (and was six yards shy of a fifth) and played a pivotal role in the post-Jim Kelly era.

He ranks second in most of Buffalo's historical receiving categories, behind only one man.

1. Andre Reed (1985-1999)

No real explanation needed here. Reed remains the Bills’ all-time leader in every major receiving category, and it’ll be a long time before anyone even comes close.

Reed was a seven-time Pro Bowler who recorded 941 catches, 13,095 yards, and 86 touchdowns in 15 seasons with the Bills. Unsurprisingly, he’s in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and on the Bills’ Wall of Fame.

He ranks 19th on the NFL all-time receiving yards leaderboard. He'll likely be passed by Mike Evans and Travis Kelce in 2026, but that's no mark against Reed. What a career.
