The Texas Longhorns have three five-star commits in their 2026 recruiting class via On3 Sports, but none may be more important than quarterback Dia Bell.
Bell has been committed to the Longhorns since June of 2024 and attends American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While his pledge to Texas has remained firm, there has always been one SEC school that has been consistent throughout his recruitment.
Per Rivals' Marcus Benjamin , Bell has been pursued by the LSU Tigers from the beginning. Bell even revealed that the Tigers have been attempting to get him to Baton Rouge for a visit, but he has no plans of doing so.
“It’s really LSU," Bell said. "They’ve always been there. I’ve always had a great relationship with [offensive coordinator] Coach [Joe] Sloan. He’s still chipping away, trying to get me to come out, but I have not made any plans to visit LSU at this point.”
LSU would love to add a player of Bell's talents to its 2026 class, as the Tigers do not have a quarterback commit yet. Even more so considering he is the top quarterback in the class and No. 4 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings.
With its quarterback from the 2026 class committed, Texas has shifted to the 2027 class. The Longhorns are recruiting Kavian Bryant, the No. 2 quarterback in the class. He set the record straight about what Texas school he thought was the best, going with the Longhorns.
Texas is competing for Bryant with the Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Tech Red Raiders and SMU Mustangs.
The first USA TODAY Coaches Poll was announced recently, inspiring others to release their own top 25 ahead of the 2025 season. Joel Klatt released his and had the Longhorns below the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Texas opens the year with the Ohio State Buckeyes on August 30. Kickoff is at Noon ET on Fox.
