A new weapon emerges for Ravens offense

With WR Rashod Bateman sidelined for the season, the Ravens offense needed someone to step up. Demarcus Robinson, a former Super Bowl champ with the Chiefs, has seized his opportunity.

In Week 11 against the Panthers, Robinson grabbed a career-high nine receptions for 128 yards receiving and earned praise from his head coach.

"This guy right here [Demarcus Robinson] again came up big, 'D-Rob' making many plays," John Harbaugh said after the win against Carolina (via the baltimoreravens.com.). "I was going to give him a game ball, but he just got the one last week."

Heading into the season, Bateman and Devin Duvernay merited the spotlight. Robinson, picked up by the Ravens after his release by the Raiders, was more of an afterthought.

In the past three games, Robinson caught 16 of 21 targets from Lamar Jackson for 204 yards. Robinson has been most effective on intermediate routes and finding openings in zone coverage. His production will go up as Jackson plans to keep feeding him the ball.

"He played lights out," Jackson said. "We've known what he's capable of though; we just have to keep feeding him the ball (via baltimoreravens.com.)."

Robinson has helped support the offense, taking pressure off veteran running back Kenyan Drake, who led the Ravens rushing attack. The Ravens have looked for someone who could team with Mark Andrews to increase the passing offense and have found it with Robinson. Robinson has fulfilled his role and done more than what was expected of him.

Robinson, who played six seasons in Kansas City, is a veteran receiver who can help lead the young Ravens' receiving core in place of Bateman.

"I've been to higher levels, and I'm just trying to get these guys to understand that, which I'm sure they do," Robinson said (via baltimoreravens.com.). "We just talk about it a lot. Just to let them know that we're not even halfway to accomplishing our goals, so we just have to keep going harder and harder because we don't have one of our best players (Bateman)."
