Aaron Glenn Makes Unfortunate Jets Coaching History After Loss to Dolphins

The New York Jets have had 22 head coaches in their franchise's history. Since 1960, when they were the New York Titans of the AFL, through the current NFL season, the Jets have a torrid past primarily filled with disappointment.

Outside of their one moment of glory when they won Super Bowl III following the 1968 season, Jets fans have experienced a great deal of pain and suffering with little glimmers of hope every so often.

The start of the 2025-26 NFL season was one of those moments of hope, a new beginning. After ownership essentially cleaned house, they began their search for a new head coach to lead their franchise back to glory.

Jets ownership turned to a former player who wore green and white for eight seasons, Aaron Glenn. While Glenn has said all the right things so far in his stead as head coach of the Jets, he hasn't done all the right things.

Aaron Glenn Still Seeking First Win as Jets Head Coach

Following a 27-21 loss to the Miami Dolphins on 'Monday Night Football', Glenn's Jets now hold a record of 0-4 to start the season.

He joins Lou Holtz and Adam Gase as the only coaches in Jets history to start their careers with the team with an 0-4 record. Holtz resigned as the coach of the Jets just 13 games into the 1976 season with a record of 3-10. Gase was fired after two unsuccessful seasons with the team going 7-9 and 2-14 in 2019 and 2020.

While it's only been four games, Glenn's short tenure with the Jets has not been pretty. On Monday night against the Dolphins, the Jets lost three fumbles and were assessed 13 penalties for a total of 101 yards. One of the team's fumbles came on the opening kickoff of the second half when Isaiah Williams coughed up the ball.

The most crushing miscue of all was presumably the Braelon Allen fumble on the Dolphins' one-yard-line. Allen had the ball punched out of his hands as he leapt toward the goal line in what would have been a touchdown had he held onto the ball.

Allen would leave the game after taking a scary hit to his knee on a kickoff return in the second quarter. Reportedly, the concern for Allen's left knee is a high-grade LCL sprain.

Glenn is currently in year No. 1 of a five-year contract with the Jets. Glenn and the Jets next opportunity to clean up their sloppy play will come in Week 5 when they host the 1-2-1 Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at 1 p.m. EDT.
