Aaron Rodgers and Retooled Steelers Does not Excite Colin Cowherd

Ever since Aaron Rodgers decided to wear the yellow and black, Pittsburgh Steelers fans have been hyped, believing their team now has the quarterback to take them to the next level. Even though he is going to be there for just one season, they hope this investment makes it worth it.

The Steelers, it seems, understand where their fans come from. After years of experimenting with either quarterbacks past their prime, or young unproven talent, they went with someone who can thrive under the right circumstances.

However, prior to Rodgers signing, the franchise lost some of their players to free agency, and only had DK Metcalf to show for as an investment. Other than that, they have been on the hunt for potential impactful players.

In a trade, they landed two of them in Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith. They also have fresh off a Super Bowl win, Darius Slay. All of these moves should excite fans, but veteran analyst Colin Cowherd is not impressed.

If they’re all in, that’s a pair of 8s. That ain’t pocket aces, folks. Some GMs just make moves, but do they have a plan, and this is an example.

The FS1 analyst believes the Steelers essentially brought in like-for-like replacements for players they had trouble with. Be it replacing one high-maintenance wideout for another or trading in one aging defensive back for another. He does not believe the team is in better shape than they were last season.

Colin Cowherd believes Steelers’ offseason moves could blow in their face

Colin Cowherd, while explaining what the Pittsburgh Steelers did in this offseason, tried to understand what gains were made. After calculating what the franchise brought in to replace those that were lost in the offseason, he summed it up with an analogy.

The Steelers are the kid who pays off his student debt and puts it on a credit card.

By giving this analogy, the 61-year-old believes the players that the Steelers brought in have added massive pressure on the franchise. Most of those players are combustible in nature and could make the top brass look bad.

Even after this season, the franchise is on the hook, at least with Ramsey and Metcalf, and they have to deal with what they have in their buildings. Ultimately, he hopes it does not end up costing the jobs of Mike Tomlin and GM Omar Khan.

Colin Cowherd wants Steelers to avoid disaster with TJ Watt

While talking about the offseason moves, Colin Cowherd detailed how the Pittsburgh Steelers have spent most of their money on their defense. That is before they even get to a contract extension for their most important player, TJ Watt.

The pass rusher is still unsigned and is waiting for something to materialize before joining up with his teammates at practice. Cowherd hopes the franchise take his contract seriously, as the fans are too invested in him.

He hopes they do not let it to escalate to a situation where Watt believes he has to leave to earn his last major paycheck. If that happens, those passionate Steel City fans will call for the heads of both Tomlin and Khan.

Watt will undoubtedly become the most expensive defender in the league. Cowherd expects his new contract to surpass that signed by Cleveland Browns’ star rusher and Watt’s rival Myles Garrett .
