Aaron Rodgers biographer makes prediction on QB’s potential Pittsburgh Steelers, NFL future

Aaron Rodgers‘ free agency saga has been one of the most discussed storylines of the 2025 NFL offseason. However, it may soon come to an end.

The quarterback’s biographer, Ian O’Connor, recently spoke with local radio station 93.7 The Fan about Rodgers’ offseason timeline — stating that he’ll likely be with the Pittsburgh Steelers by the end of the month. According to O’Connor, Rodgers may have already given the black and yellow his word.

“I just think verbally, behind the scenes, not that he guaranteed it, but he’s told [the Steelers], ‘Listen, I’m gonna play for you. I just don’t want to go there and then miss part of mandatory minicamp because of my personal issues.’ I’m pretty sure they’re gonna be solved by the end of May, at least in my satisfaction where I can give you my all.’ So that’s where I think he is,” O’Connor said, via SteelersDepot.com.

Rodgers mentioned his personal issues during an interview with Pat McAfee in April, the only public comments that he’s made this offseason. However, the end of May is approaching rapidly, which means Rodgers’ final decision could be made soon. Pittsburgh’s mandatory veteran minicamp is set to begin on June 10, so that timeline adds up.

Of course, this is the first time Rodgers has gone through any sort of free agency during his career. He was traded to the New York Jets after spending 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers. However, his time with the Jets was short-lived and after two years and one healthy season, he was released earlier this offseason.

“He knows it was an embarrassment in New York largely, and he’s the face of that embarrassment,” O’Connor continued. “Whether that’s fair or not, that’s the case. It may be me as an optimist, but I think this is gonna work out. Do I think the Steelers will win the Super Bowl next year? No. But if you told me 11-6 with at least one playoff victory … I think that’s realistic.”

The Steelers haven’t won a playoff game since 2017 despite making the postseason in each of the last two seasons. The 11-game threshold is certainly attainable, as Pittsburgh has notched 10 wins during both of those seasons.

Whether Rodgers, who led the Jets to a 5-12 record during the 2024 NFL season, can get back to the winning ways he enjoyed during his tenure with Green Bay remains to be seen, but it’s clear to O’Connor that his efforts will be made as a Steeler this fall.
