Aaron Rodgers has spent years watching his complicated family situation become a public storyline. Now, the veteran quarterback is making it clear that he wants that chapter of his life handled differently.

Rodgers recently reunited with his parents, Ed and Darla, and his older brother Luke after years of estrangement. Two weeks ago, he even shared photos on Instagram showing himself spending time with his family in Nashville.

But don’t expect Rodgers to make a habit of it.

In an interview with USA Today Sports, Rodgers explained that the post was essentially a one-time opportunity to address years of speculation surrounding his family.

“I feel like it was part of the full-circle moment to just one time post something and never again,” Rodgers said.

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback believes there has been a public narrative surrounding his family for years that hasn’t always accurately represented what was happening behind closed doors.

Now that those relationships have started to heal, Rodgers wants them to remain exactly where he believes they belong: private.

The reconciliation itself has apparently been a long process. Rodgers reunited with his parents earlier this year at his high school Hall of Fame induction in Chico, California, and he has since spent more time rebuilding those relationships.

Rodgers has also credited his wife, Brittani, with helping him become more open to reconnecting with his family. He said getting married and having conversations with her helped change his perspective.
