Aaron Rodgers’ near-Hail Mary touchdown pass against Bengals is unlike anything we’ve seen in 8 years
Aaron Rodgers' near-Hail Mary touchdown pass against Bengals is unlike anything we’ve seen in 8 years 6 Pittsburgh quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) throws a pass in the first quarter of the NFL game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati on Oct. 16, 2025.

The ending of Thursday night’s game between the Aaron Rodgers-led Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals was one for the books. Although Rodgers’ Hail Mary try was foiled by the Bengals, it surely had the football world holding its collective breath, knowing that the resume of the future Pro Football Hall of Famer is filled with incredible plays on the football field. Well, the Steelers ultimately lost to Joe Flacco and the Bengals, 33-31, but that throw by Rodgers has fans still buzzing.

Aaron Rodgers showed that he still has that big arm

At 41 years old, Rodgers showed that he definitely can still sling it. Rodgers put the Steelers ahead by just a point, 31-30, when he connected on a 68-yard touchdown pass to tight end Pat Freiermuth with over two minutes left in regulation. But the Bengals got the lead back — for good — when they scored a field goal on the ensuing drive. That left Rodgers with seven seconds to manufacture a miracle, which he had done numerous times in the past, especially during his time with the Green Bay Packers. However, his desperation heave was denied by the Bengals’ defense in the end zone. Had Rodgers made it, it would have sent shockwaves across the league. Still, Rodgers putting his arm strength on display at his age left many impressed.

The Steelers dropped to 4-2 after losing to Cincinnati. There should be more drama ahead for Rodgers, as Pittsburgh now prepares for a showdown with the Packers in Week 8.
