Aaron Rodgers on controversial MVP voter: 'I think he's an absolute bum'

Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player voter Hub Arkush generated headlines Tuesday when he controversially said he will not choose Green Bay Packers quarterback and reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers to win this season's award because he has deemed Rodgers "the biggest jerk in the league."

The NFL declined to comment on the matter, but Rodgers predictably touched upon the subject during Wednesday's media availability.

"I think he’s a bum. I think he’s an absolute bum," Rodgers said of Arkush, according to Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "He doesn’t know me. I don’t know who he is. No one knew who he was, probably, until yesterday’s comments. And I listened to the comments. But to say he had his mind made up in the summertime, in the offseason that I had zero chance of winning MVP — in my opinion, that should exclude [him from] future votes."

It's unknown if The AP will strip Arkush of his voting privileges.

"His problem isn’t with me being a 'bad guy' or 'the biggest jerk in the league' — because he doesn’t know me," Rodgers continued. "He doesn’t know anything about me. I’ve never met him. I’ve never had lunch with him. I’ve never had an interview with him. His problem is I’m not vaccinated. So if he wants to go on a crusade and collude and come up with an extra letter to put on the award just for this season and make it the 'Most Valuable Vaccinated Player,' then he should do that."

Rodgers missed the Week 9 loss at the Kansas City Chiefs because he tested positive for COVID-19 as an unvaccinated player. Since then, however, he helped the Packers clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs, and he leads the NFL heading into Week 18 with a 111.1 passer rating and 67.8 total QBR.

Per Fox Sports, Rodgers is the betting favorite to win the fourth MVP award of his Hall of Fame career.
