Aaron Rodgers had a resurgent campaign with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025. He played 16 out of 17 regular-season games, registering 327-of-498 completed passes (65.7%) for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Rodgers led the Steelers to a 10-7 record. Pittsburgh earned a spot in the NFL playoffs, where they ultimately lost to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round, 30-6.
It was a memorable year for Rodgers in his first year with the Steelers. It was also the 42-year-old’s 21st season in the NFL.
There has been a lot of talk about Rodgers’ potential retirement now that his contract with Pittsburgh has ended. If this turned out to be his final year, the four-time NFL MVP surely made it count.
Rodgers has not made his decision just yet. At this point, it can go either way. The 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback could opt to sign an extension with Pittsburgh or choose to join a different team. It’s also possible that Rodgers decides to call time on his decorated career.
Rodgers is already thinking about his post-NFL life. While he isn’t ready to make his retirement decision yet, the four-time All-Pro QB has already ruled out one potential career move. Rodgers made his announcement during Wednesday’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show.”
“When this is done, it’s Keyser Soze, and you won’t see me,” Rodgers said. “You won’t see me. I’m not doing TV. ... I’m not going to be out and about.”
Rodgers is not known for taking the straightforward path. He’s remained on-brand here with his decision not to enter a potentially lucrative TV career once he retires. Instead, he revealed his plan to disappear from the limelight, ala Keyser Soze of the 1995 classic film “The Usual Suspects.”
For context, Tom Brady put pen to paper on a $375 million, 10-year deal with Fox to be the network’s top NFL analyst. While this is a viable post-NFL career path for Rodgers, he’s now announced his decision against it.
Rodgers has not confirmed his retirement decision yet, but he’s already made it abundantly clear that a career in broadcasting is not going to be an option for him.
