Achane Disrespect from Media Continues with Madden Rating

For Miami Dolphins fans who also happen to be gamers, the newest iteration of the Madden NFL series is set to hit store shelves on August 13. It will be released for a number of platforms (Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Windows), but before you pick up a copy, it’s worth noting that you probably won’t like running back De’Von Achane‘s rating.

Madden has revealed that it has Achane rated as an 88 overall, and more importantly, just the 11th-best running back in the league. Unfortunately, this is just the latest instance of the media giving Achane the short end of the stick when ranking the league’s top backs.

In July, ESPN ranked him as only the eighth-best running back in football, and earlier this month, Bleacher Report did the same. At least those outlets had Achane as a top-10 back, because there’s really no valid statistical argument to put him outside of that after the season he just enjoyed.

He ended the 2025 season in the NFL’s top 10 in a whole lot of rushing statistics, including rushing yards (1,350), first downs rushing (54), 20-plus yard runs (14) and 40-plus yard runs (four). On top of all that, he led the whole league in rushing yards per attempt, meaning he was both incredibly reliable and explosive on the ground for Miami.

Fortunately for the Dolphins, it doesn’t seem the lack of respect Achane has received from media outlets is getting to him. He recently spoke about his low Madden rating and said it’s “a video game, so I don’t kind of like take that serious.” Achane also went on to say that the rating is “what it is.”
