We're just a few weeks away from the start of the 2025 NFL Draft and the Round 1 picture is starting to get a little clearer. But with no pre-draft trades happening yet, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter is willing to make one bold guarantee for the event.
Appearing on NFL on ESPN , Schefter said he'll "guarantee" that the Philadelphia Eagles make a trade during the NFL Draft. He said that while he doesn't know when it will happen or who will be moved, a move will be made.
"I don't know for who, I don't know for what, I don't know when it will happen," Schefter said. "They will be moving and shaking, as they usually do in Philadelphia."
When it was mentioned that the Eagles could make a trade in one of the later rounds for a veteran, Schefter agreed that it would be exactly the kind of trade they'd make.
"That's the kind of move—a Day 3 trade for a veteran—that I think we could see from the Philadelphia Eagles this year," Schefter said. "I think that they've got as much fire power in this draft as any team out there. When you give a Super Bowl champion roster 20 draft picks over the next two drafts to go have fun with you become a team to watch."
It's not the boldest possible prediction that Schefter could make. A first-round or top-10 trade would probably feel bolder.
One of the main ways the Eagles have built their entire team has been finding value either later in the first round or depth throughout the roster. The other big way has been through making low-risk, high-reward trades and signings of players who are either disgruntled or failed at other organizations.
The end result has been an Eagles team that has firmly established itself as the most stacked roster in the league. It's hard to even compare a team in recent or distant NFL history where a team has been built with such a strong foundation.
If the Eagles win another Super Bowl next season, the league may have to adapt in a big way.
