Over the last few weeks, there have been a lot of rumors connecting the Pittsburgh Steelers to Aaron Rodgers.
Simply looking at the scenario, it could make some level of sense. The Steelers do not currently have a starting quarterback on their roster. Both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields could leave town this offseason in NFL free agency.
While there is a good chance that they could simply re-sign one of the two quarterbacks and make them their starter, the urge to bring in an upgrade is strong.
Pittsburgh is looking to get back to being a Super Bowl contender and it's quite possible that they may not view either Wilson or Fields as an option who can take them to that goal.
That being said, Adam Schefter has now spoken out with his thoughts on the Rodgers to the Steelers rumors.
During a recent appearance, Schefter made it clear that he does not see Rodgers ending up in Pittsburgh.
"Maybe but doubtfully the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Schefter said.
Schefter also went on to name the only other destination that he thinks could make sense for the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
"And who else? His best option at this point would appear to be if the (New York) Giants are interested in him and he’s interested in them they can figure out a deal."
During the 2024 NFL season with the New York Jets, Rodgers completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
Whoever ends up signing him will be getting a much better player than much of the national media projects.
Clearly, Schefter doesn't see the fit for the 41-year-old star with the Steelers. However, they're still a team to monitor entering free agency.
