Hall of Fame kicker Adam Vinatieri ripped open old wounds for longtime Raider fans when he was inducted into the New England Patriots’ Hall of Fame on Sunday.

Vinatieri, who won three Super Bowls with the Patriots, spoke at halftime of Sunday’s game in Foxborough which was, not coincidentally, against the Las Vegas Raiders. The kicker reminisced about his two famous kicks that tied and won the 2001 AFC Divisional game against the Raiders in the midst of a blizzard. He also noted that he broke the NFL’s all-time scoring record with a kick against the Raiders.

Vinatieri then went for the jugular by referencing former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who is now a minority owner of the Raiders.

“At the time, I thought we owned the Raiders. And you know what? Thanks to Tom, we actually do,” Vinatieri said.

The aforementioned blizzard game is best known as the game that introduced the “Tuck Rule,” and to this day many Raiders fans think they were robbed of victory that night. Vinatieri obviously does not care. This is basically just him rubbing it in.

Based on a crack Vinatieri made about Bill Belichick when he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, it certainly sounds like we know where he stands on the Brady-Belichick debate.
