Bills

Bills S Jordan Hancock is finally healthy after working back from a shoulder surgery for most of the offseason. Buffalo DC Jim Leonhard talked about getting him up to speed and went into where they want to use him. He also praised Hancock for his improved consistency with his fast, physical style.

“It was gonna be a huge evaluation in camp, because he was limited. He was coming off of surgery in the spring,” Leonhard said, via the team’s YouTube. “We had to play catch-up a little bit, as far as what his evaluation was gonna be. We pushed a lot of nickel here early in camp. Now, we’re gonna transition and do a little more safety as well. He got some [safety] in the game, but primarily played nickel here early in camp.”

“He’s done a great job. Obviously, in the game, he flashed his playmaking ability as well and his physicality. He plays fast. He plays violent. You’re seeing more consistency the more reps he gets.”

Bills HC Joe Brady also had great things to say about Hancock and called him a “chess piece.”

“When he’s on the football field, you notice him. He flies around. He makes plays. He looks like he has fun playing football. He’s a chess piece for us,” Brady added.

Jets

Jets HC Aaron Glenn said that his vision for the team hasn’t changed after a poor first season as the head coach and preached patience.

“There’s a number of coaches that have (early success), but, man, it just takes time,” Glenn said, via The Athletic. “And you know what, Ben Johnson hit it. He did a good job this first year. Liam Coen did a great job. Listen, I just know this, I want to build this to where it’s sustainable, and where we will always put ourselves in a chance to win every year, and that takes time.”

Glenn admitted that he made some unsuccessful hires initially and wasn’t afraid to change course quickly.

“Absolutely, man. I kick myself in the ass for that,” Glenn said. “When you have a vision for something, and as you execute it — sometimes you got to pivot. And I think the toughest people, just in general, are the ones that are not afraid to pivot and not afraid of what anybody else will say on the outside. Because if you don’t pivot, you crash and burn.”

Glenn also admitted that he didn’t handle the media spotlight as the head man as well as he could have and spent too much time fighting them.

“Absolutely. Absolutely,” Glenn says. “Another mistake. Because I came in and I was already pissed at something else, had nothing to do with the media. And then I started to think, man, take it out, these guys and gals, and for what? They had nothing to do with this here. That was a mistake. I think, like right now, I think people are getting a real version of who I am.”

Jets

Along with his prowess on special teams, Jets S Dane Belton is competing with Andre Cisco and Malachi Moore to start alongside veteran Minkah Fitzpatrick. Jets HC Aaron Glenn and ST coordinator Chris Banjo had high praise for Belton, citing his ball skills and strong understanding of his assignments.

“He knows what to do, and he knows how to do it,” Glenn said, via the team’s website. “He’s a ball magnet, and he’s damn good on special teams, so there’s a real value to that player.”

“He’s somebody who really just leads by example in regards to just doing everything right, time in and time out,” Banjo added. “You feel his presence out there, you feel his command out there naturally. So it’s really good to see what he’s able to put on tape, and how he’s able to kind of bring guys along with him as well, with just the standard that he holds himself to. You see a real competitive guy, right? A guy that doesn’t really like to take no for an answer, and it shows on the tape. So really excited to have him. I think he’s been a great addition for us so far.”
