Broncos

Former Bills HC Sean McDermott recalls going against Broncos QB Bo Nix last season and noted that something is off with the young quarterback.

“I remember going against Bo last season and the season before that. He’s a very competitive, edgy type of player with a certain play style, that’s how I know him, and I have a great amount of respect for him. What I’m seeing a little bit this year, to their point, is some of the… maybe indecisiveness. And listen, he’s kind of volleyed back and forth to two different play-callers now, so maybe that’s it. You just never know.” McDermott said, via Broncos Wire. “He’s got game, he’s got the skills. I see him on the bench a little bit this year. He looks very relaxed and maybe that’s just how he is. I wasn’t in this seat that I’m in currently this year, I wasn’t in that seat last year, I was on the other sideline where I’m not looking at Bo and how he is off the field and on the bench. But, sometimes, a quarterback in particular needs to have that demeanor on the sideline because you have to stay consistent, you have to stay poised for your team. There is something a little bit off this year, and I would agree from that standpoint, because I know what he’s capable of doing.”

Chargers

The Chargers are 0-6 after a 22-6 loss to the Chiefs in Week 6. Los Angeles HC Jim Harbaugh said they are “looking into everything” to improve the team, specifically noting they need to do better on offense.

“0-6 does not give the privilege to rule out anything at this point. And we’re looking into everything,” Harbaugh said, via Eric Smith of the team’s site. “We’re looking into everything at this point, and that process is ongoing. Particularly offensively, scoring more points, the different multiple situational ways we need to play more complimentary football.”

When asked about their offense, Harbaugh said they need to move the ball and be more efficient in several situations.

“Everything that relates to moving the ball,” Harbaugh said. “Putting ourselves in a more advantageous position, efficient plays on first down, red-zone efficiency. Ball at the 1-yard line, we have to get it to the end zone. Backed up, third down, all situations. Like I said, 0-6 gives nobody comfort. Attacking everything we can.”

Harbaugh said they are considering making alterations to their offensive playbook to make things easier.

“Definitely looking at volume and where you can make it to where the players can understand it,” Harbaugh said. “It’s an option. It’s something that we’re looking into for sure, along with how much that is practiced. Does that need to be practiced more? Taking what’s in the meetings to the install to the practice [field] and eventually having that show up in the game, that’s one of multiple things we’re addressing.”

Raiders

The Raiders have been able to close games out this season, and many on the team have weighed in when asked by reporters, including HC Klint Kubiak, TE Michael Mayer, G Caleb Rogers, DE Maxx Crosby, QB Kirk Cousins, and WR Tre Tucker

“Very disappointed that we didn’t get it done today,” Kubiak said, via The Athletic. “We are not satisfied with any moral victories.”

“Close. Games. Out,” Kubiak added. “At the end of the game, when it’s a game like that, you’ve got to play to your strengths.”

“The standard is winning, and as long as Klint’s here, that’s gonna be the standard,” Mayer mentioned. “He’s been all about winning since the second he stepped in the door. That’s what you want your head coach to do, that’s what you want him to be about. And I wanna win as much as he wants to — he’s made all of us (want to).”

“We don’t want a moral victory. There is no stat for that. There is no column for it,” Rogers told reporters. “As of right now, we’re just a really good team who hasn’t closed in some games, and we gotta close.”

“It’s just attention to detail,” Crosby said. “Defeating the guy in front of you. Block destruction, playing in the backfield. I feel like we all gotta be on the same page when it comes to that.”

“It’s one of these games where it’s hard to sleep afterwards when you kind of think through the plays that you could have should have made,” Cousins said. “In a tight game like that, it comes back to haunt you.”

“I’ve been a part of some games where we weren’t very competitive, and just felt like you were out there, just participating,” Tucker said. “This is more of competition, competing. This is what the NFL is about. We’re very competitive. But great teams close. So that’s what we got to get figured out.”

  • Kubiak said they’ll keep competing for starting roles on their offensive line ahead of Week 7, per Sam Warren.
