Bills HC Joe Brady told reporters he isn’t planning to cut veteran S C.J. Gardner-Johnson after the spitting incident that led to his ejection.
“Look, C.J.’s a member of the Buffalo Bills. We brought him here for a reason, and we know that he knows that he has to play better. He knows he has to be better for this team, and, you know, just like everybody else, right, we’ve got to learn from this stuff, and we have to improve and find ways to get better as the season goes.” Brady said, via Pro Football Talk. “No different than — it’s different, right? — Jimbo fumbling. You know, we have to continue to find ways to get better, and he knows that he has to be better, and, you know, it’s just an opportunity for him. Look, it’ll be an opportunity for someone else to, you know, play early the week and step up, but it is an opportunity for him to grow and be better as a better teammate and a better football player, you know, when this opportunity comes up again.”
Dolphins DL Zach Sieler told reporters he wants to stay in Miami despite trade rumors ahead of the deadline.
“No, I haven’t. I know people say rumors or talk whatever this time of year, but I’m here focused on playing games here, win as a Dolphin, man. And we’re doing a great thing. I’m excited for this next week coming up and coming off the bye ready to roll.” Sieler said, via NFL.com. “I love it here. How long have I been here? I want to win here as a Dolphin. I think [coach Jeff] Hafley, [GM Jon-Eric Sullivan] Sully have done an amazing job here. I’m excited to see this team growing and where we’re going and get some wins.”
“I really like this team. And I know that, at 0-5, everybody could look at me like I’m crazy. But the energy that this team has, the connection that this group has, the youth, it’s almost like a fun youth to be around. They really love playing football. They really love playing with each other.” Dolphins HC Jeff Hafley said when asked about the roster. “Having the time to reflect … it’s me reflecting on the people that we’ve brought in here. It’s me reflecting on everything that these guys have put in and will continue to. … It’s me looking at the foundation that’s being set for this team, and we all want to win. I want to win more than you guys have any idea. … A lot of people need to see before they believe. I believe. I believe in this team before maybe most people can see it. But what we’re doing right now, we’re going to look back on and it’s going to be awesome.”
Jets HC Aaron Glenn stood behind OC Frank Reich and said the team needs to improve on both sides of the ball.
“I think he’s done a good job, I really do. Obviously, there are a number of things that we can improve on … from short-yardage and the two-minute. But that also goes on me also when it comes to the defensive side, me and [coordinator Brian] Duker on some things that we have to get better at, too.” Glenn said, via ESPN. “After six games, it’s hard to just say, ‘OK, we’re this.’ But I would say I think [Reich has] done a good job. Obviously, Geno has done some good things, and you have to give a lot of credit to Frank [and the quarterback coaches], plus Geno himself. So, as we continue to go through this season, I continue to see us progress and get better on things we’ve got to get better at.”
