A.J. Brown goes off on fan for criticizing Eagles offensive play-calling

Several Philadelphia Eagles players have recently made it known they are not happy with what they believe has become “predictable” play-calling from offensive coordinator Brian Johnson.

Now, Eagles fans are voicing their issues with the play calling, and receiver A.J. Brown isn’t taking kindly to the criticism.

Brown ripped into a fan on X who pointed out quarterback Jalen Hurts’ tendency to lock in on Brown cost Philly in Monday’s 20-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Warning: Brown uses some colorful language in his series of tweets.

On the play in question, Hurts missed a wide-open DeVonta Smith streaking across the middle of the field for an easy first down because he was locked in on Brown, who covered down the right sideline.

The fan suggested that Brown should have been used as a decoy on the play and then subsequently as a blocker for Smith, who likely could have taken the short pass and turned it up-field for a big gain with Brown blocking for him, but wasn’t because Hurts frequently forces the ball to Brown.

Brown finished with five receptions on 10 targets for 56 yards, while Smith logged five receptions on five targets for 50 yards.

This isn’t the first time Brown has taken offense to someone suggesting Hurts favors him over any of the Eagles' other WRs because of their close friendship. However, Brown has been targeted on 32.5% of Hurts’ throws this season compared to 23.5% for Smith, suggesting there may be something to the fan’s objection.
