Ivan Taylor knows how an NFL defensive back carries himself, being the son of former Pittsburgh Steeler defensive back and Super Bowl Champion, Ike Taylor.

Ivan is one of the Alabama Crimson Tide’s freshmen early enrollees, and he is currently going through spring practice with the Tide. The Florida product is a former four-star recruit.

Alabama’s junior defensive back, Bray Hubbard has noticed some good and promising habits from the freshmen during his first few months in Tuscaloosa.

“He got in here, and he was eager to learn,” Hubbard said. “He was learning the defense. He comes in every day ready to work in the weight room, on the field, off the field, whatever it is, recovery training room, whatever it is. He’s always here doing something to get better, and that’s a guy that you can tell that he’s going to be a really good player.”

The Tide’s defensive back room is loaded with returning talent and young potential. The Tide’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack revealed the Tide was looking to add depth in its secondary after injuries rocked the room during the 2024 season. This approach could open the door for a guy like Ivan to make an impact.
