Former Washington Commanders quarterback Alex Smith didn’t sugarcoat his words about his former team.

In his latest appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, the 2020 Comeback Player of the Year said, “There’s a lot of distractions – that entire organization, everything surrounding it … It’s been flawed the last 20 years.”

It’ s a st atement that the Commanders’ public relations department cannot refute because the evidence is aplenty.

Who could forget the questionable free-agent signings that the team did during the 2000s?

Deion Sanders and Albert Haynesworth are just two names that will prove their front office blunders.

They also haven’t addressed their quarterback situation, and Smith is just one of their several starters since the new millennium started.

Recently, there’s much trouble revolving around the franchise, starting with the emails that implicated former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden.

While exchanging messages with some Washington team officials, Gruden became the fall guy.

Then, the team hastily planned a jersey retirement ceremony for Sean Taylor to deviate the heat away.

The issues don’t stop there because there are also allegations of sexual misconduct among team officials.

Finally, there’s also an ongoing probe regarding Daniel Snyder’s alleged falsification of the team’s financial records.

Commanders Will Be A Mess On The Field

If their front office has been problematic, it’s hard to find optimism if Carson Wentz will become their starting quarterback.

The Commanders lost Brandon Scherff, which weakened the protection around Wentz.

If he can’t perform well behind the Indianapolis Colts’ offensive line, will he pull off a miracle and perform well behind the weakened Washington line?

Lucky for him, the pass rush of their division rivals is not among the league’s elite.

However, can Wentz outsmart defensive backs like Darius Slay, James Bradberry, and Trevon Diggs?

Therefore, all indications lead to another disappointing season in Washington.
