Kansas City is known for a lot of things. The city is also known for its barbecue and the passion everyone has for its sports teams with the Kansas City Chiefs being at the top of that list. What's great about Kansas City is that it's great for people who don't want to live in a huge city but still want that city-like atmosphere.
Well, not everyone is a fan of Kansas City. Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is one of them, making comments about the city during a recent episode of his podcast St. Brown Podcast. St. Brown and his brother, Equanimeous St. Brown, welcomed Houston Texans rookie receiver Jaylin Noel onto their podcast and got to talking about the midwest, which is how Kansas City even came up since Noel is originally from K.C.
“I’ve been to Kansas City; I was there for the draft," St. Brown said. "Bro, I’m sorry. If you have money, I’m not living here after I get some money."
Truthfully, it's not the end of the world that St. Brown feels this way. In the same way that people in Kansas City like the city because of its size, others, like St. Brown, don't mesh with it for opposite reasons. St. Brown wants a city where there's more to do and that's totally fine.
Of course, Chiefs fans will probably see this quote and think the worst, like I did before I listened to the actual clip but no, St. Brown didn't dog on Kansas City. All he said was that it wasn't for him and he'd never want to live there.
The good news is that St. Brown has no ties to the Chiefs so there's no reason for him to need to stay in K.C. long-term anyway. For what it's worth, the Chiefs host the Lions in October this season so St. Brown will have to be in Kansas City for at least a few nights. I bet he's really looking forward to it!
