Anquan Boldin praises Tom Brady, others for signing Ahmaud Arbery letter

Former NFL wide receiver and Players Coalition co-founder Anquan Boldin is commending Tom Brady and other white sports personalities for signing a letter requesting that the Department of Justice investigate the shooting of 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery, who was recently killed while jogging near his home.

While speaking on ESPN's First Take, Boldin mentioned how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback has largely remained silent on political and social issues during his Hall of Fame career:

"I think it's very significant. Especially having Tom be a guy who hasn't been involved in politics at all," Boldin said during the TV interview. "He's kind of stayed away from it. But it just goes to show that people are tired of this happening. We've seen it over and over again, and far too long, we've allowed it to go on and not speak out about it. So to have someone like Tom Brady sign the letter, it was very significant."

As noted by ABC News, Brady made headlines in the fall of 2015 when a Donald Trump "Make America Great Again" hat was spotted in his locker

New England Patriots players Julian Edelman, Ryan Izzo, and David Andrews, journeyman quarterback Josh McCown, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, and former NBA coach and current basketball analyst Stan Van Gundy are among the white sports personalities who attached their name to the letter.

"It's not that they don't care what's happening to African Americans in this country," Boldin added. "A lot of them are afraid to say the wrong things. So that's why a lot of guys stay away from being in front of the cameras and speaking out about certain subjects. And honestly, they don't go through what we go through, but to say that they don't support us, that would be far from the truth."
