Broncos' Brandon McManus confident he can kick the longest field goal in NFL history

Brandon McManus wants to kick the longest field goal in NFL history. But the Broncos kicker doesn't just believe he can break the record, he thinks he can shatter it, claiming he can make a 73-yard field goal.

"I have a big leg, and I've always wanted to have my name etched in history," McManus told NFL Network. "I know I can make that, my teammates know I can make that. In training camp, with live rushes, I've made it from 73 yards."

The current record is held by Matt Prater, who kicked a 64-yarder for the Broncos way back in 2013. McManus thinks he can be the one to set a new record and says he will buy everyone in Denver a beer when he does.

Now, can McManus actually blast a 73-yard field goal? On the one hand, he hasn't even broken 60 yards during an actual game. His longest is currently 57 yards, which is more than 15 yards less than his claim, and makes it seem like he may be getting a little too big for his britches.

However, there is some evidence that supports McManus might have the leg to pull it off. There is video of him nailing what appears to be a 73-yard kick during practice, so at the very least, he has the physical strength to make it happen.

Of course, practices and games are extremely different things, so McManus will have to do it when the lights are bright to silence all doubters once and for all.
