In a season where injuries have decimated the Browns roster to the point where four different quarterbacks have now started multiple games, Joe Flacco has emerged as a steady captain under center.

When the 38-year-old popped up on the team's Week 16 injury report on Wednesday, it raised some red flags.

First and foremost, it's important to note that the Browns didn't practice normally on Wednesday. As head coach Kevin Stefanski explained, with the team having dealt with an early season by and a short week looming in Week 17 due to a Thursday night matchup with the Jets, he opted for a walk-through day to start the week of practice.

Still, in a season marred by injuries, the words "Joe Flacco - Calf - Limited" may as well been in bright red.

Ahead of the team's practice on Thursday though, offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt attempted to ease any worry surrounding Cleveland's starting quarterback.

"His calf, he tweaked it but I don't see that being an issue," Van Pelt said. "Man, he's made some great plays moving out of the pocket and he's also made some great plays buying time versus pressure."

Van Pelt added that Flacco's mobility move has been better than he even expected, noting that it opens them up to do more offensively if he's able to get out and make some plays outside of the tackle box.

That does make nursing the calf this week more important for the Browns, but there doesn't appear to be any major concern from team brass. Flacco's status for practice on Thursday is still unknown at the moment. Updates will be provided.
