The rivalry between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs may finally be back. I say finally because it had been six meetings between the two before the Raiders had previously beaten the Chiefs. Then, of course, the Raiders went into Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day, kicked the door down, and stole all of the Chiefs' presents from under their tree.
It wasn't a butt-kicking by the Raiders like everyone would say. Sure, they won by a touchdown and scored two defensive touchdowns, which won't happen every time they play.
However, Antonio Pierce, the Raiders coach for the 2024 season, thinks they have the recipe to beat Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Pierce called it the "Mahomes rules," which is what the Detroit Pistons did back in the day with Michael Jordan. However, people are now overreacting to Pierce's comments, saying the league should come after them.
Maxx Crosby addressed that and shared his thoughts.
"People are sensitive these days, so they take things out of context," Crosby recently told Vegas Sports Today. "But, yeah, he's got multiple MVPs and Super Bowls; if we wanna win, we gotta take him down. That goes for everybody. He knows I'm coming for him; I'm on that energy every day. It's not malicious…we play the game the right way, but we play with ill intent, and we play violent…"
Crosby embodies what it means to be a Raider to the fullest. In the modern era of football, when you think of being a Raider, Maxx Crosby is the face you should see in your head as he's running full speed at you, trying to sack you. Then, of course, you wake up from your nightmare.
Crosby has let Mahomes know in the past what his intentions are everytime the two teams play one another. He has not shied away from the fact that he hates the Chiefs more than any team in the NFL. He wanted the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl so that he could be the one to dethrone them, and make it that much sweeter.
However, while he does hate them, he still respects Mahomes, and they respect one another. You have to respect him, seeing everything that he has done since entering the league. Respecting someone does not mean they are friends, but it does mean he isn't a monster and is not trying to intentionally injure Mahomes and ruin his season or anything like that.
