Report: Seahawks 'not budging' on latest contract offer to Jamal Adams

The Seattle Seahawks have made a final offer to star safety Jamal Adams, and they're reportedly not interested in increasing the value of that offer.

According to Adam Jude and Bob Condotta the Seattle Times, the Seahawks made their final offer to Adams: $17.5 million annually on a four-year contract with $38 million guaranteed. The deal would make Adams the highest-paid safety in the NFL.

Adams' representatives reportedly countered with $40 million guaranteed, the Seattle Times adds. They also wanted to move bonus money in the first three years of the contract, but the Seahawks prefer to spread it over all four years.

The Seahawks are "not budging" on their offer, sources told the Seattle Times. Although Adams reported to training camp on time this summer, he has not practiced due to his contract situation.

The 25-year-old recorded a career-high 9.5 sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, 83 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss and 14 quarterback hits in 12 games last season. It was his first campaign with the Seahawks after three seasons with the New York Jets.

Seattle reportedly wants to keep Bobby Wagner as its highest-paid defensive player at $18 million per year, so it's not hard to see why the team won't budge on its latest offer.

As of now, Adams is set to play the 2021 season on his $9.86 million fifth-year option.
