The Indianapolis Colts are starting a season 1-0 for the first time since 2013 after picking up a blowout win over the Miami Dolphins. Now they have their eyes set on starting 2-0 for the first time since 2009 , and the only thing standing in their way is the Denver Broncos.
The Colts began their practice week ahead of the matchup on Wednesday. And unfortunately, their injury report has grown significantly from last week, when only two players were listed by the time the week ended. The most notable name on the list is starting CB Charvarius Ward, who missed practice due to being in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Ward finished the Colts' Week 1 win without a reported injury. But to begin the week, he self-reported symptoms, and it was made clear that he had a concussion. He was not able to participate in practice on Wednesday, which makes his chances of clearing protocol even less likely, but not yet impossible. The NFL has a five-step process for a player to clear protocol, which is outlined below.
Without Ward participating in practice, it remains in either step one or two of the protocol. If he practices tomorrow, he will give himself a chance, but concussions aren't something you want to push a player back faster than his body is telling him. Every concussion is different, and getting Ward healthy should be priority number one. If that means holding him out all week to do so, then so be it.
