Most knew that the New York Jets and star receiver Garrett Wilson would eventually agree to a new contract, but the longer it went unsigned, fans started to shift nervously in their seats.

However, news broke that Wilson and the Jets had agreed to a four-year, $130 million deal, with $90 million guarantees per ESPN's Adam Schefter, which puts to bed all the angst.

Some thought this deal should have been done far earlier, but as we know, contracts take time, and for former NFL player-turned-analyst Damien Woody, he likes that Wilson has finally put pen to paper.

“About time,” Woody said on NFL Live. “Listen we saw the angst with Garrett Wilson last year with Aaron Rodgers and there was a lot of noise behind the scenes that Garrett Wilson didn’t want to be with the New York Jets. Obviously, the changes the Jets have made have really calmed things down. With this new contract extension, it shows you that Garrett Wilson wants to be part of the long-term solution for the New York Jets.”

Seen as potentially the most important player on the roster (Sauce Gardner a good shout too), getting Wilson signed was crucial to the vibes of the offseason, not to mention that right now, he is seen as the only genuine weapon for Justin Fields in the passing game.

Having surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in all three of his NFL seasons with a carousel of quarterbacks and offensive dysfunction, Garrett has remained the ever-present beacon of production for the Jets.

Now he gets rewarded with a bumper new contract that continues the good vibes coming out of 1 Jets Drive this offseason.
