Analyst Reveals 1 Key Thing Aaron Glenn Must Change With Jets

The Aaron Glenn era for the New York Jets has gotten off to a positive and silent start this offseason, exactly as the former Detroit Lions coordinator wanted it to be.

With a handful of sneaky good signings in free agency, coupled with a solid draft haul, the Jets under Glenn have an air of positivity about them.

But of course, we are in July and haven't seen this team play a game, but the changes both on and off the field have been noticeable. However, one thing that needs to be changed might be hard to gauge this offseason — mentality.

ESPN's Rich Cimini insists that is one thing Glenn has to get right in Year 1.

"Glenn also needs to work on the mindset,” Cimini wrote. “This team lacked killer instinct in 2024 — a franchise-record six losses after leading in the fourth quarter. There also was a shortage of resilience. When they were down, they usually stayed down — only two wins after trailing in the fourth quarter. Only twice did they overcome a double-digit deficit, and they wound up losing both those games.”

Mindset is perhaps the hardest thing to improve. Glenn can't play the game for his players.

Instilling his type of culture and physical approach will help develop chemistry inside the locker room and, hopefully, bring everyone together. The result could help them play for each other and be harder to play against because they won't want to let each other down.

We often learn a lot about players when they go through adversity, and, as Cimini wrote, last season the Jets often rolled over when the going got tough. They won't under Glenn.

Well, that is the thought anyway, but for all of the good and sweeping changes Glenn and his staff have made this offseason, the most important one will take place above the shoulders.
