Analyst says what Bears should do with No. 1 pick and 'cut the drama'

The Bears have a difficult decision to make in the coming weeks about whether to stick with QB Justin Fields or trade him and draft USC QB Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

However, former QB and ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III believes Chicago should stop wasting its and everyone else's time and begin this offseason's quarterback dominoes.

"The Chicago Bears decision with Justin Fields will have a DOMINO EFFECT on the QB movement this offseason. Draft Caleb Williams and trade Fields where? Keep Fields and trade the 1st Pick, who gives them a kings ransom for it? The Bears SHOULD trade the 1st pick and cut the drama," Griffin III posted on platform X.

Only time will tell whether Griffin III is right in thinking Chicago should stick with Fields over drafting Williams. But he is right in the fact that the drama surrounding the situation is continuing to grow every day.

Fields reportedly unfollowed the Bears on social media this week. And although Fields said, "I'm just tryna not have football on my timeline" on "The 33rd Team" podcast, he is frustrated with the team's indecisiveness.

The No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft also stated, "Man, I'm tired of hearing the talk. I just want it to be over."

Chicago is taking its time to make sure it makes the right decision. But the longer the team takes, the more its relationship with Fields could become rocky.

Griffin III also thinks the Bears could lose out on trade partners the more time passes.

"If I was an NFL GM, I'd call the Bears' bluff. I wouldn't trade anything for that first pick and force them to make the pick, keep all my assets so I can build around my quarterback of the future," Griffin III said via a TikTok video. "That's not usually how business is done in the NFL, but this is an unusual situation."

Chicago is likely waiting until after the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, which begins next week, to make its decision. But every passing minute seems to be just as risky as the decision itself.
