Andrew Berry Delivers Verdict on Dillon Gabriel’s Future With Browns

The Cleveland Browns have picked another quarterback in the sixth-round at the NFL Draft on Saturday. This raised questions about the future of the current QBs in the Browns Camp, especially Dillon Gabriel.

Andrew Berry, the GM of the Cleveland Browns, wasted no time addressing these speculations. Speaking to the hosts of 92.3 The Fan, he said, “I’ve learnt the hard way not to say anything definitively. The current plan is that we’ll roll with those four [QBs]. I can’t predict if something else comes up.”

Dillon Gabriel, a third-round pick in 2025, was signed as a backup for Joe Flacco. He became the starting QB in October but lost the position within a month after suffering from a concussion.

Shedeur Sanders took his place while Gabriel was benched for the rest of the season, even after clearing the concussion protocol.

The Browns’ picking Taylen Green as their 4th QB immediately led to speculation about who would start for the team this season. It also put more pressure on Gabriel regarding his future with the Browns.

However, insider Adam Schefter revealed on X that the Browns have no plans to trade Dillon Gabriel right now.

Dillon Gabriel’s stint as the Browns’ starting QB was brief. He was able to achieve 937 passing yards, 7 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and 59.5% completion rate. However, a mid-season concussion led to a pause in his performance for the rest of the season.

Gabriel has a rather low QBR of 31.4, which is below-average for a rookie. On top of it all, the Browns’ veteran quarterback, Deshaun Watson, is returning this season after an Achilles injury kept him away last year. With four QBs on the roster now, the locker room is bound to get competitive.

“The three guys we’ve had here have worked really hard and they get along really well. We’ve been really pleased with the early part of the offseason program and we feel that Taylen will fit in nicely because of how he’s wired, his work ethic. So we’re looking forward to seeing that group progress.”

Berry made it clear that the Browns will continue having four quarterbacks. What’s left to be seen now is seeing how these quarterbacks coexist in what feels like a crowded battle.

Dillon Gabriel’s impressive records proving his potential

Dillon Gabriel had an unpredictable and challenging 2025, very unlike his previous seasons throughout his collegiate career. He was named after NFL Pro Bowl RB Corey Dillon, and his performance proved that he had done the name justice.
