Andy Reid Announces Isiah Pacheco Development on Friday

Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Buffalo Bills in Week 9. At 5-3, the Chiefs have losses to the Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars.

In their Week 8 win over the Washington Commanders, running back Isiah Pacheco hit a season high of 58 rushing yards on 12 carries. He's been Kansas City's most used running back through eight games, making him a key piece to the offense.

However, his availability to play against the Bills has been a major question. On the team's Wednesday and Thursday injury reports, Pacheco was listed as a non-participant due to a knee injury. He sustained it against the Commanders.

While speaking to reporters on Friday, Reid revealed that Pacheco is likely going to sit out against the Bills.

"Per Andy Reid, Jaylon Moore was ill, but he'll be ready to go Sunday. On Isiah Pacheco "There's a good chance he'll be listed as out" Sunday. Trey Smith should be good to go for Sunday. #Chiefs," wrote Harold R. Kuntz of Fox 4 Kansas City.

This season, Pacheco has rushed the ball 78 times (leads the team) for 329 yards (leads the team) and one touchdown. He's also hauled in 11 receptions for 43 yards and one touchdown.

The Bills have struggled to stop the run this season, ranking 31st in rushing yards per game allowed (150.3). The Chiefs' not having their top running back to exploit that weakness will be a major setback.

Kansas City will need to rely heavily on ninth-year veteran Kareem Hunt and seventh-round rookie Brashard Smith to step up in place of Pacheco.

Kickoff is Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET at Highmark Stadium, airing on CBS.
