Andy Reid, Chiefs Make Unexpected Decision on Tuesday

Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are entering the final stretch of their preparations for the 2026 NFL season. Kansas City has spent training camp getting Patrick Mahomes and the offense ready for another campaign, while offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has also returned to practice after spending time away attending to his wife.

Mahomes enters another season as the centerpiece of Reid’s offense, with Travis Kelce by his side. Kansas City’s defensive line has also undergone some changes, with Chris Jones and George Karlaftis expected to lead the group alongside players such as Felix Anudike-Uzomah, Ashton Gillotte and rookie R Mason Thomas.

Ahead of the regular season, Chiefs added another veteran to their defesnse, signing defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah to a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It’s a move that reunites Ogbah with the franchise he helped win Super Bowl LIV in the 2019 season.

The reunion comes as something of a surprise. The Chiefs traded Ogbah to the Miami Dolphins in March 2020, and he spent the next five seasons in Miami before joining the Jacksonville Jaguars last year.

Ogbah recorded 15 tackles and 0.5 sacks in 13 games for Jacksonville in 2025. That followed a run in Miami, where he recorded 29 sacks across five seasons. He enters his 11th NFL season with 47.5 career sacks and 112 quarterback hits.

The 32-year-old originally joined Kansas City in 2019 after the Chiefs acquired him from the Cleveland Browns. He played 10 games that season and recorded 5.5 sacks before a torn pectoral muscle ended his year. Kansas City went on to win the Super Bowl with Ogbah on the sidelines.

Now, Ogbah gets another chance with Reid and the Chiefs, this time as a veteran addition to a defensive line that could use more experience and depth.
