Most of the known world will be tuning in to listen to the upcoming episode of Travis and Jason Kelce's podcast New Heights, given the universal popularity of this week's guest: Taylor Swift. But there are some folks who aren't going to tune in.
You can count Andy Reid among those with other plans.
Once the social media team behind New Heights announced that Taylor Swift would be the guest on Wednesday's episode, anticipation swelled to epic levels within minutes. Short clips were shared and dissected. Plans were cancelled. The world, in many ways, will halt at 6:00 p.m. C.T. when the episode drops. Just don't expect Reid to take part.
Swift, the most recognizable music artist on the planet, will bring a global following of passionate fans to pore over every detail on what is already one of the most successful sports podcasts around. However, when Reid was asked about whether or not he would be tuning in to hear and see the results of the interview himself, he graciously declined.
"No, but listen, I'm like really old," said Reid, the Chiefs' head coach, to ESPN reporter Nate Taylor's question. "My grandkids will be all over it."
Reid did go on to share his happiness for Kelce and Swift, who have been a pair for two years at this stage. "I'm happy for them. Both of them like each other, and that's... what a plus that is.Y ou know, they care about each other, and that's, I think, the most important thing.
"The older you get, you know, you want these guys to have somebody they can settle down with, and that whole deal, and so, you know, I think it's a neat deal for them—both of them."
While Reid is evaluating the roster at the end of another training camp in St. Joseph and preparing for Friday's game against the Seattle Seahawks—the second of three preseason contests—the rest of us will be waiting (im)patiently for the latest New Heights episode. Maybe Reid can get the relevant details from someone else.
