There have been plenty of overreactions to the Kansas City Chiefs getting blown out in the Super Bowl. One in particular was about Andy Reid and his future in the NFL.
Reid has been the head coach of the Chiefs since the 2013 season. The franchise has undoubtedly reached new heights with him at the helm. Just this past weekend, they were one win away from becoming the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowl titles.
That being said, FOX radio host Rob Parker believes it's time for the Chiefs to move on from Reid. And no, we're not kidding.
On the latest episode of "The Odd Couple," Parker declared that it's time for Reid to step down from coaching the Chiefs.
"Andy Reid should step down as head coach of the Chiefs," Parker said. "This isn't a one game reaction because they lost the Super Bowl and got boatraced. Where were the adjustments? Where was the gameplan? I'm not a football coach. Guys who are football coaches questioned the gameplan - no running game to start at all. You get behind and have to pass. This is what he did in Philadelphia all the time, he got pass-happy. They got tired of that in Philadelphia.
"This fall off the cliff is 2 years in the making. Last year they won the Super Bowl, so it kinda covered up how bad things were with the receivers and the struggles. Andy Reid is supposed to be an offensive genius. Why is Patrick Mahomes struggling so much?"
Reid has already made it clear that he'll be back in Kansas City for the 2025 season. His focus will be on avenging the Super Bowl loss to the Eagles.
"This one’s going to hurt," Reid told reporters. "Let it hurt. Figure out how to get better because of it."
As long as Reid is leading the Chiefs, they have to be considered a Super Bowl contender. Regardless of what Parker said on his show, the reality is Reid knows how to win games.
