The Chicago Sky are coming off one of their best wins of the season on Thursday, defeating the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty 91-85. The game marked star forward Angel Reese’s second appearance back after a lingering back injury kept her out for seven straight games.
Although Chicago has already been eliminated from playoff contention, the team remains motivated to finish the season strong. On Saturday, they have another prime oppor tunity to add a win when they face the 8-27 Connecticut Sun.
Ahead of the matchup, Reese and her partner Reebok announced exciting news regarding her signature sneaker, the Angel Reese 1. The line, dropping in less than a month with three colorways, will now feature a fourth release in October. Dubbed “Charm City,” the new purple-and-black design will debut during Saturday’s game.

Before the game, Reese spoke to the media about her outfit and the inspiration behind it. Being from Maryland, she shared that she’s a big Baltimore Ravens supporter, and with the NFL season appro aching, she felt it was the perfect time to debut the look.
“Purple and black, back home to the Ravens. It’s called Charm City… football season is here, and I love the Ravens and I support them, so go Ravens, go Flock!” Reese said.

Originally, the Angel Reese 1 sneakers were expected to debut in 2026. However, with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark releasing her signature shoe with Nike next year, Reese now has the perfect opportunity to stand out as the next WNBA superstar with her own sneaker—a truly rare honor in the league.
Reese joins just over a dozen players in WNBA history to have a signature shoe. Currently, only three active players—Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart, and A’ja Wilson—have their own signature kicks. With Clark and Reese releasing theirs, they will become the fourth and fifth active players to hold that distinction.
