Anonymous Executive Expresses Concern Over Jaylen Waddle’s Availability
The Denver Broncos paid a pretty penny to acquire wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins last month. In one of the bigger blockbuster trades of the offseason thus far, Denver not only gave up its first-round pick in this month’s draft at No. 30 overall, but it also handed over third- and fourth-round picks to the Dolphins.
In light of Waddle switching teams from the Dolphins to the Broncos via trade, one unnamed league executive told The Athletic that Denver “better know” that he has flaws and cited his availability as a “concern.”
One NFL exec on the Broncos' addition of Jaylen Waddle:
"Take your shot, but you'd better know some of the flaws. Availability is a concern, and he doesn't exactly exude toughness. Maybe your culture changes that. He opens things up and he's in his prime."

The notion that Waddle struggles with availability issues doesn’t hold much (if any) weight when held up to scrutiny. He’s sat out just seven games across the entirety of his NFL tenure and also has suited up in 14-plus games in every single one of his seasons in the pros.
The 27-year-old has been a very durable NFL wide receiver overall, and there’s nothing from his Dolphins stint that would suggest he’s going to struggle mightily with the injury bug with his new team.
Not only did the Broncos trade for a highly durable receiver, but they of course also traded for a highly talented one, too. Waddle, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, made up the cream of the crop of Miami’s receiver corps in 2025, posting 910 receiving yards (a team-high by a country mile) while averaging 14.2 yards per reception.
Heading into the 2026 campaign, the Broncos’ receiver corps is looking incredibly formidable following the Waddle addition. After all, Courtland Sutton is on the heels of posting 1,000-plus receiving yards last season, and Troy Franklin is a budding star at 23 years old. Couple that with the steady hand that Evan Engram provides at the tight end position, and signal-caller Bo Nix certainly isn’t going to be short on talented targets.
