Anthony Weaver Can’t Be the Next Dolphins Head Coach
The title says it all, and I am not talking about the interim head coach if/when McDaniel is fired in-season, I mean the next full-time head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
In life, there is a thing called “Time and Place,” and you want to be in the right place at the right time, whether it’s with your profession/career, your personal relationships, or finding that special someone, or any number of things.
For the Miami Dolphins, it isn’t the right time and place to hire Anthony Weaver as their next full-time head coach. And for Weaver, he shouldn’t want the job if offered.
This is a very toxic situation with the Dolphins right now, and Weaver is knee deep in it as his defense is a big part of the problem these first two games into the season.
How or why on god’s green earth would someone who is part of the problem be a candidate to be promoted?
Again, I am not talking about on an interim basis. If they fire Mike McDaniel on Friday, or two weeks from now, or a month from now, fine, make Weaver the interim head coach to lead the team the final months of the season.
But for this organization to truly get better, to truly turn the page from the disaster that is the Chris Grier/Mike McDaniel era, they have to go in a totally different direction.
Nobody who is here now should be allowed to stay. PERIOD!
If you’re part of this problem, you can’t be part of the solution.
And nobody should get promoted or be allowed to “Fail Up” with this chaotic mess that is the 2025 Miami Dolphins.
It would be such a Dolphins thing to do for the organization to fire Mike McDaniel, keep Chris Grier as the GM (or make him Sr. Advisor to Football Operations), he hand-picks his buddy to be the next GM (like Champ Kelly), and they then promote Anthony Weaver to be the next Dolphins full-time head coach.
Another guy with zero head coaching experience, who would be learning on the job, who would need to build an entirely new staff, and all Stephen Ross would have done is change the titles on some of the business cards, and really keep it as status quo as status quo can be.
Want to know how you go 25 years without winning a playoff game? Decisions like this.
I don’t even have my crystal ball out, but I can totally see this happening over the course of the next few months as it would be such a Dolphins thing to do.
But it better not happen!
The Dolphins as an organization need an enema, and to be totally flushed out!
Stephen Ross needs to hire his Ari Gold and have that person come into the offices with a paint gun and fire everybody.
Any thought of a Grier and Weaver pairing needs to be quickly forgotten.
And I hope Anthony understands, it’s not you, it’s us.
You took a job with a dysfunctional organization that can never get out of its own way.
You will and should be an NFL head coach someday, and I truly hope you get that opportunity.
But this Dolphins organization right now is a complete disaster from the front office, to the coaching staff, to the “franchise” quarterback, to a lot of the players on the team.
It needs new people in positions of power.
And it needs all new coaches and leadership on that side of the house.

The Dolphins cannot hire another person with zero head coaching experience, whether in college or the NFL.
And they damn sure can’t hire the guy who will be part of the reason why the last guy was let go and fired.
