AP reportedly drops MVP voter who announced he wasn't choosing Aaron Rodgers

Armando Salguero of OutKick reports that the Associated Press has dropped NFL Most Valuable Player voter Hub Arkush over comments he made about Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers earlier this year.

Arkush said in January he wasn't voting for Rodgers as MVP for the 2021 regular season and then called the quarterback "the biggest jerk in the league" and "a bad guy." The future Hall-of-Famer later declared that Arkush's words were related to his decision not to receive one of the available COVID-19 vaccines, as Rodgers missed what became a Green Bay loss at the Kansas City Chiefs last November after he tested positive for the coronavirus as an unvaccinated player.

"The AP is revamping its list of voters this year because some died while others have retired," Salguero explained. "But the Arkush decision, the source told OutKick, is because he violated the voting rules by revealing his vote publicly before he cast it."

Arkush's original statements meant little in the long run, as Rodgers earned MVP honors for the second consecutive year and the fourth time of his career.

While Arkush said in January he didn't "think a bad guy can be the most valuable guy at the same time," Rodgers remarked he viewed the Pro Football Weekly executive editor and publisher as "an absolute bum."

"His problem isn’t with me being a 'bad guy' or 'the biggest jerk in the league' — because he doesn’t know me," Rodgers added at that time. "He doesn’t know anything about me. I’ve never met him. I’ve never had lunch with him. I’ve never had an interview with him. His problem is I’m not vaccinated. So if he wants to go on a crusade and collude and come up with an extra letter to put on the award just for this season and make it the 'Most Valuable Vaccinated Player,' then he should do that."

In the end, it appears Rodgers had the last laugh regarding this matter.
