We are trying not to overreact to the Dallas Cowboys' 31-13 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens, but goodness me, Brian Schottenheimer's team isn't making it easy.
With another blowout loss, the offense looking disjointed, Joe Milton struggling, so too the run game, Schottenheimer's team has all sorts of problems, and we aren't sure where to begin (although the defense wasn't too bad overall).
But we say that knowing starters didn't play, the golf clubs are in the bag, and the scheme being vanilla, however, we wanted to see improvement from the Los Angeles Rams game, yet we didn't get it.
Social media is rife with people not just slightly pressing the panic button, they are hammering it, but is Schottenheimer?
“We’re not pushing the panic button," he said. "We’re pushing the work button.”
That work button better be getting a serious workout then, Brian, because there is a lot to do.
We get it, this is preseason football, and the score matters little.
But the biggest concern for the coaching staff and Cowboy Nation is that the same things that have plagued this team for years still remain, with the run defense and discipline being top of the list. Now, Schottenheimer wasn't going to magically fix things in one offseason, but many thought some sort of improvement would be forthcoming.
Milton was perhaps the biggest disappointment of the night, and if you needed any evidence of how much growth is needed, you saw it on full display.
Such was the level of Milton's performance that Will Grier might have a chance to be Dak Prescott's backup. Yes, I said it.
Schottenheimer might not be pushing the panic button right now, but his hand has to be hovering over it.
