Twenty-five years is a very, very long time without a playoff win for the Miami Dolphins.
Coach Mike McDaniel is heading into year four of this playoff drought, and many unanswered questions are going into the 2025 season.
As fans, we look forward to being part of the action in November and December, making the season significantly more enjoyable.
Will Mike McDaniel and his team reverse the narratives that have plagued this team?
Focusing on the past three-year tenure, can the Miami Dolphins improve their road record, beat playoff-caliber teams, show some physicality, play their best towards the end of the season, make better coaching decisions during games, and end the locker-room drama?
This is a long and significant list, and it is likely not exhaustive. As a loyal fan, it becomes more difficult to feel optimistic about the 2025 season.
Compounding the issues Miami brought with them at the end of 2024, general manager Chris Grier was forced to go to Walmart for bargain shopping as he was apparently on a stringent budget.
Here we are in late July, with merely weeks to go before we play the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium on September 7.
We have limited choices regarding where we are as fans in 2025.
We can easily and justifiably resign ourselves to another mediocre or below-average season, resulting in 7, 8, or 9 wins.
And in January 2026, we can expect Stephen Ross to bring back the established management yet again.
But maybe not.
I look forward to every game, hope for the best, and enjoy the successes on the field despite the expected trials that will come our way.
And with some fortune, good luck, surprise performances from unexpected players, even if some call it misplaced hope, the 2025 Miami Dolphins may end up shocking some people in the NFL world.
