Are the Eagles and star WR A.J. Brown heading toward a split?

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is no fool, so he knew exactly what he was doing when he scrubbed all mention of the Eagles from his Instagram account and deleted his X account shortly after the Eagles were eliminated from the postseason.

Those actions led many to speculate it was Brown’s way of saying he wanted out of Philadelphia. And based on his past actions when he was a member of the Tennessee Titans, there’s strong evidence to believe that’s exactly what he’s doing.

But the 26-year-old WR denied any truth to those rumors during an appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” on Wednesday.

“I’ve kind of been through this before a little bit,” Brown said. “I’ll remain quiet and if something happens, I’ll be waiting by the phone. And if not, then I’ll be right here.”

While it’s not known whether Brown actually wants to be traded or not, he hasn’t gone out of his way to squash any trade speculation. In fact, he avoided answering the question when he was asked point-blank by SI.com’s Robin Lundberg if he expected playing for the Eagles next season.

As far as his social media presence, Brown has been known to passive-aggressively use X and Instagram to get his point across.

The last time he scrubbed his social media was during the 2022 offseason when he was playing for the Titans. Brown’s actions were viewed as a ploy to play hardball with the team as the two sides discussed a contract extension, but it ultimately led to Brown being shipped to Philadelphia during the 2022 NFL Draft for the 18th overall pick.

Now, it appears he’s doing the same thing with the Eagles despite his remarks to the contrary.

“[Scrubbing my social media] had nothing to do with football,” Brown stated. “That’s me just trying to grow as a person, just trying to block out any negativity that I can. As you see, [the trade rumors] are one of the reasons why.”
