DENVER — The Arizona Cardinals were kept scoreless for three quarters as they fell to the Denver Broncos, 27-7, in their second preseason game on Saturday night.
Arizona and Denver announced that they would not play any of their starters in the game after the teams had a joint practice on Thursday.
First Quarter
Quarterback Jacoby Brissett started for the Cardinals. They couldn’t come up with anything on their opening drive. The Broncos began the scoring with a touchdown from RJ Harvey, going 97 yards in their first drive. The Cardinals responded with a 67-yard drive, with Brissett connecting with Simi Fehoko to tie the game, 7-7.
Denver’s Jarrett Stidham then connected with Troy Franklin for a 27-yard touchdown, giving Denver the lead back, 14-7.
Second Quarter
Denver began the second quarter with another scoring drive, settling with a field goal from Will Lutz to extend their lead to 17-7. The Cardinals forced a punt halfway through the quarter, but couldn’t take advantage on offense. Broncos’ Stidham once again connected with Franklin for another touchdown, 24-7.
Arizona was kept scoreless.
Third Quarter
Both teams exchanged punts throughout the quarter. The Broncos once again settled for a 35-yard field goal in the quarter, giving themselves a 27-7 lead.
The Cardinals were held scoreless again.
Fourth Quarter
The quarter was relatively quiet for both sides. Denver’s Caden Prieskorn fumbled before getting into the endzone and was recovered by the Cardinals.
Arizona was unable to come away with points in its final drive.

The Arizona Cardinals return home to host the Las Vegas Raiders for their third preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 23.
