The Arizona Cardinals have faded into the background in the NFC West over the past few seasons. The last time they finished at least second in the division was when they won 11 games in the 2021 campaign.

Arizona has won just 12 games in the three seasons since. The upcoming 2025 season brings hope again for Kyler Murray and the Cardinals, as they begin their third season with Jonathan Gannon as their head coach, who guided them to eight wins last year.

Still a dual-threat quarterback with immense ability to make things happen with his legs, Murray will look to capitalize on his strengths again to lead Arizona’s attack that averaged 358.2  total yards per game, 11th-most in the league, in 2024.

Kyler Murray makes demand for Arizona Cardinals’ offense

A glaring strength of the 27-year-old Murray is his mobility. He lacks the traditional size of a pass-heavy quarterback, but he can escape the wrath of opposing pass rushers with his quickness, especially when plays break down. Murray touched on that recently, as he highlighted his desire to see himself and the Cardinals offense do better in extending plays when things don’t go according to script.

“You get to the NFL, there are just better athletes,” Murray said (via Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official website). “Guys are smarter, angles are different. So anytime I can get in space on this level, I love it. That’s a point of emphasis not only for me but for Drew to find ways to get me out in space, scramble drills, stuff like that. We have to be better in off-schedule plays. I have the ability to extend plays and we have the guys to go do it.”

The two-time Pro Bowler signal-caller threw for 3,851 passing yards and 21 touchdowns with 11 touchdowns while rushing for 572 yards and five touchdowns in 2024.
