In a legendary act of chivalry, Henry Silver from Indiana volunteered to try the 33-yard Home Depot field goal for Belle Sessions, a student at the University of Georgia who won the raffle to attempt it. The prize was $200,000, which ESPN College GameDay host Pat McAfee doubled on the spot to $400,000, to be split evenly among the students, with an additional $400,000 going to Hurricane Relief.

Miss Sessions joined the capacity crowd on the Myers Quad at 3:00 A.M., one of the first 300 to arrive, which made her eligible for the raffle.

In a Bulldog sweatshirt two sizes too large, the sweet-faced coed explained, "I knew I couldn't do it, and he said that he could." He, suggesting the two undergrads scarcely knew each other until being thrusted into the early morning spotlight. "So, we're splitting it."

Henry, who'd camped out at the Quad since 6:00 p.m. Friday night, expressed unhesitating confidence. "Have you ever kicked a ball before?" McAfee asked, thrusting the microphone into his face on live television.

Henry said, "I've kicked a ball before, I've played soccer my whole life; I think I can do it."

McAfee reviewed the stakes, then asked analyst and holder Kirk Herbstreit what he thought of Silver's chances.

"I like when guys come up to the ball and kind of step it off. I get a little nervous when they just--" Herbstreit said.

McAfee, a former punter for the Indianapolis Colts, waved off Herbstreit's attempt at skepticism and added pressure. "Soccer player. They can eyeball it."

McAfee doubled the stakes again to $800,000, but stressed there wouldn't be a second kick. "I don't care if this entire place starts chanting for a second kick. ONE Kick."

Herbstreit placed the ball down.
