Falcons Rookie Kendal Daniels Carted Off Field After Frightening Injury Against Bears

The Atlanta Falcons experienced a frightening moment during Sunday’s matchup against the Chicago Bears when rookie linebacker Kendal Daniels suffered a potentially serious injury that required medical personnel to remove him from the field on a stretcher.

The injury occurred during the second half at Mercedes-Benz Stadium as Daniels attempted to tackle Bears tight end Colston Loveland.

During the play, Daniels’ facemask collided with Loveland’s knee, causing the linebacker to remain on the ground as medical personnel immediately rushed to his assistance. According to NBC Sports, Daniels appeared to suffer a possible head or neck injury, although the exact nature and severity had not been confirmed.

The game was delayed for several minutes while trainers attended to the 23-year-old defender.

Players from both teams gathered around Daniels, with several teammates kneeling as medical personnel worked to stabilize him. Daniels’ jersey was cut off during treatment, and his neck was immobilized before he was placed on a stretcher and transported from the field on a cart. NBC Sports reported that Daniels appeared conscious and was seen moving a hand before leaving the field.

Falcons Face Growing Injury Concerns on Defense

The injury represents another setback for Atlanta’s defense, which had already lost linebacker Divine Deablo earlier in Sunday’s contest.

Deablo suffered an arm injury during the second quarter and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Daniels, a fourth-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, joined Atlanta after playing college football at Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. The rookie entered the season with considerable expectations after recording 293 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks during his collegiate career.

His versatility and ability to communicate defensive assignments had already earned recognition within the Falcons organization. However, Sunday’s frightening incident shifted the attention away from football.

While Atlanta continues battling injuries across its defense, Daniels’ health remains the immediate concern. The Falcons had not confirmed a specific diagnosis or recovery timetable in the initial reports.

Additional information regarding his condition is expected following further medical evaluation. For Daniels, his teammates and the organization, the priority now is his health and recovery rather than when he might return to the football field.
