Average At Best
Some fans and NFL pundits have noted that the Miami Dolphins played better than expected against the Buffalo Bills.
Tyreek Hill was quoted after the game, saying the Dolphins are in a good position right now because they played the Bills close.
But this is the National Football League, and there are no moral victories, only wins and losses.
And after the first three games of the season, the Miami Dolphins stand at 0-3.
That is not a good start, folks.
And the primary prevailing reason, as we have witnessed, is that the 2025 Miami Dolphins team is average at best.
And after these first three games, despite all the pre-season talk about keeping Tua Tagovailoa healthy resulting in wins on the field, the team has fallen flat.
And the most important player on the field is, of course, the quarterback.
The quarterbacks leading the best teams in the league can overcome mistakes because they start with a very high bar.
Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Patrick Mahomes, to name three of these notable quarterbacks, are considered franchise quarterbacks for a reason.
The Miami Dolphins General Manager Chris Grier chose Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 draft, expecting Tua to be that franchise quarterback.
After his first five seasons, now in his sixth season, Tua has shown us that he is average at best.
An average quarterback is not capable of leading a team to the Super Bowl unless everyone plays error-free football and causes turnovers in their favor.
So, the future direction that the Miami Dolphins are facing has one huge need that, if not fixed, will continue to doom this franchise.
Admit that drafting Tua Tagovailoa was a mistake and keep looking for that franchise quarterback.
A quarterback who can run when he needs to, throws the difficult passes outside the numbers, and possesses a strong enough arm to hit deep receivers in stride.
The question for owner Stephen Ross is who will be making these decisions, because Chris Grier’s history in selecting players is compromised.
The next few weeks will be interesting to watch to see what unfolds.
Something has to give, and soon.
