Baltimore Ravens ceiling and floor for 2023

The Baltimore Ravens had a roller-coaster offseason, starting with Lamar Jackson's request for a trade. Jackson and the team made up, and he's now the league's highest-paid quarterback and should benefit from several new weapons on offense.

How well the Ravens will perform remains up for debate, but here's our prediction for the best- and worst-case scenarios for the Ravens:

Ceiling: 13-4

Baltimore struggled to close games in 2022, with five of the team's seven regular-season losses decided by four or less points. However, after adding wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Nelson Agholor in free agency and Zay Flowers in the draft, the Ravens should have enough firepower to turn some of those losses into wins in 2023.

Baltimore has a favorable schedule, the 21st most difficult in the NFL. The AFC North seems to be as competitive as ever, but the Ravens are optimistic their offense will have a new identity and be much improved under new offensive coordinator Todd Monken, the former Georgia OC.

The Ravens have what should be easy wins spread out across their schedule, beginning with the Texans and Colts, who will likely be starting rookie quarterbacks, in Weeks 1 and 3. Baltimore should also be heavily favored in games against the Titans (Week 6), Cardinals (Week 8) and Rams (Week 14). (Complete schedule analysis here).

Floor: 8-9

It isn't difficult to argue that all three of the Ravens' divisional rivals improved this offseason, which may not bode well for them. The easiest way to the postseason is winning your division, and that is far from guaranteed for Baltimore, which hasn't won the division since 2019.

In Weeks 15-18, the Ravens face a gauntlet with games against the Jaguars, 49ers, Dolphins and Steelers. All four could be playoff teams in 2023. If Baltimore has not found its stride by then, it may miss the postseason and finish with a losing record.

The Ravens may also be susceptible on defense after losing key veteran leaders, notably DE Calais Campbell, CB Marcus Peters and safety Chuck Clark.
