Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson To Have 'More Freedom' In 2023 Offense
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens have to be excited about seeing Lamar Jackson in purple in 2023. After a long contract dispute, the team and Jackson were able to agree to a massive extension. Lost in a lot of the hullabaloo was the fact that the Ravens hired a new offensive coordinator Todd Monken. He is installing a new offense and apparently, Jackson is going to have “more freedom” according to tight end Mark Andrews.

Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson In A New Offense

This is the greatest collection of weapons that Jackson has had since he arrived in Baltimore. Odell Beckham Jr. joins rookie Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. Andrews is still there and tight end Isaiah Likely showed some flashes last season. Andrews talked about what to expect from Jackson in 2023.

“It’s going to be great, he’s already got a good handle on everything,” Andrews said on NFL+. “He’s only going to continue to get better, more comfortable. Just having a little bit more freedom, control of the offense and having the reigns to do different things at the line, I think it’s going to be great. I’m excited about it, it’s going to be a dangerous offense, we have so many pieces and when you add #8 on that, it’s incredible.”

High Expectations

The expectations are sky-high in Baltimore. They have invested in the offense and the defense in the past couple of seasons. Jackson is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the entire league. With more weapons around him, he should be more dangerous. The AFC is a tough conference but Jackson has shown that he can hang with the best teams in the league. The biggest question that remains is whether he can stay healthy through an entire season.

The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson will be a ton of fun to watch this season. Jackson is must-see television because you never know what ridiculous thing he will do on the field.
