The Baltimore Ravens are ramping up for the 2025 season as training camp heats up.
Position battles, standout plays and rising rookies are giving fans plenty to watch before the preseason kicks off.
What seemed like a close battle throughout training camp has quickly reached a decision. The Ravens waived undrafted rookie John Hoyland, signaling that Tyler Loop is now the frontrunner to take over kicking duties. Loop has had both sharp and some shaky days, but the team is trusting in the first-ever kicker drafted in franchise history to settle in as the new starter.
With Hoyland gone, all eyes will be on Loop to see if he can bring consistency once preseason begins.
The Ravens have waived UDFA rookie K John Hoyland as @mzenitz first reported. This means that rookie sixth-round pick Tyler Loop is the lone kicker in the building as the Ravens look to replace Justin Tucker.

Multiple Ravens have flashed on offense during camp. Devontez Walker has consistently made plays, showing why he could become a valuable piece in the passing game. Dayton Wade has stacked a few solid days together, putting his name on the radar as he fights for a roster spot.

In the backfield, Keaton Mitchell is reminding everyone why he was so electric in his rookie season, showing the same burst that makes him a potential weapon in 2025. The Baltimore Ravens could look to involve him more this year to form a dangerous trio with Derrick Henry and Justice Hill.
LaJohntay Wester has also shown potential as he flashes his speed and agility in camp, showing he could add another layer of explosiveness to the offense. Many expect his biggest impact this year to come on special teams as a returner, where his quickness could shine. On the offensive line, Andrew Vorhees has settled in at left guard as the Ravens rotated their offensive line during training camp.
Harbaugh said Andrew Vorhees is clear leader at LG. Said something would have to change for him not to be the starter but he did say Ben Cleveland is coming on.

The Baltimore Ravens’ defense has looked sharp throughout camp, making life difficult for the offense. Second-round pick Mike Green has stood out with strong early performances, but it has been a collective effort.
The defensive unit has forced many turnovers, including interceptions from Nate Wiggins, who has shown a lot of growth. Jaire Alexander has also settled in with this stacked secondary, showcasing his ball-hawking ability.
Rookie Malaki Starks has also earned plenty of attention, drawing praise for his attention to detail and poised approach. Beau Brade has had strong performances in camp, earning notice for his effort and preparation after showing up at the weight room. Brade is projected to be the backup safety behind Kyle Hamilton and Starks.
T.J. Tampa has quietly put together a strong camp as well, though he faces an uphill battle for playing time since he’s behind a loaded cornerback room led by Marlon Humphrey, Wiggins, and Alexander.
The defense won the practice 63-36 in the Ravens practice scoring system and it didn’t feel that close.

Injuries have created early challenges for the Baltimore Ravens during camp. Isaiah Likely suffered a foot injury and might not be ready for week one. Emery Jones has not yet participated in training camp due to injury, leaving depth concerns on the offensive line.
False starts have also been an issue during practices. Frequent false starts have stalled many drives and frustrated players. The offense will need to clean up these mistakes before the season starts, facing live defenses.
Todd Monken said the offense has been committing false starts in training camp because they are stressing various cadences.
"It's real easy to get frustrated, which I do. I'm the king of overreacting.

Training camp has highlighted just how deep and talented this roster is. Coaches will face tough choices in creating the 53-man roster. The energy around the team has been clear, with players competing hard and building strong chemistry on both sides of the ball.
All eyes now turn to the preseason, where roster battles and playmakers will start to shape the Baltimore Ravens’ season ahead.
